our merger with berea

In the summer of 2014, Berea Baptist Church in Evans, GA began to look for a new gathering space. Berea was growing exponentially, and the space being leased was pushed to its limits. During that season, Crawford Avenue began exploring options to sustain their once thriving congregation. Over the years their numbers had dwindled, and facilities that were once brimming with people now sat mostly unused. Each church was experiencing challenges, but the Lord had ordained both for His glory.

When the elders at Berea discovered that Crawford Avenue was looking for a pastor and a partnership of some kind, they began to build a relationship with the deacons at Crawford Avenue. After a season of discussions, Crawford Avenue Baptist Church voted overwhelmingly in favor of a merger process proposed by Berea Baptist Church on Sunday, February 22, 2015. In this process, both churches would actively consider the possibility of merging to become one church located in the facilities on Crawford Avenue.

On August 30, 2015, both churches voted in favor of merging together. As outlined in the merger document, Berea Baptist Church relinquished her name and became Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. In turn, Crawford Avenue Baptist Church relinquished her constitution, confession, and culture to the larger congregation that was once known as Berea.

As one unified church, we look forward to many years of service together to the glory of God. We'd love for you to be a part of this exciting season in the life of our church.
