Our mission as a church is to glorify God by making disciples who enjoy, live, and proclaim the gospel.

  • To make disciples is to lead people to faith in Christ and encourage growth in the knowledge and practice of following Jesus according to Scripture.
  • To enjoy the gospel means to revel in God's amazing grace and mercy shown to us in Jesus Christ.
  • To live the gospel means to display to the world the love that we have been shown through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • To proclaim the gospel means to share this incomparable Good News with our community and with the nations.

Everything that we do at CABC is intended to help us make disciples who enjoy, live, or proclaim the gospel.

Our core values are the essential and enduring tenets of our church. These are our guiding principles, the values that inform all of our actions.

We value the joy of knowing and experiencing God’s glory in all of life.

We value the Scriptures as our only source for the knowledge and application of sound doctrine.

We value the faithful and relevant exposition of God’s Word.

We value a right understanding of God’s life-transforming work of conversion.

We value the primary role of the family for Christian education, training, & nurture.

We value meaningful membership, reflected by a living commitment to corporate worship, giving, prayer and service.

We value the spiritual leadership of elders, and the servant care of deacons.

We value the community of believers for mutual edification as we share the joys and hardships of life.

We value humble and confident individual and corporate prayer.

We value the calling and gifting of each individual member to cheerfully participate in the work of the ministry.

We value biblically responsible evangelism that invites sinners to repent of sin and trust in Christ.

We value the urgent declaration of God’s salvation in Christ to all peoples of the earth.

Our beliefs at Crawford Avenue are distinct in at least four ways:

This basically means two things:

  1. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God and is therefore our final authority in all matters of life and doctrine, and
  2. We believe that all people are born in sin and that man’s only hope for salvation is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Specifically, this means that we embrace the “Five Solas” of the Reformation:

  1. Our final authority is Scripture Alone, which reveals to us that
  2. salvation is by Grace Alone,
  3. through Faith Alone,
  4. in Christ Alone,
  5. to the Glory of God Alone.

We also affirm and rejoice in the sovereignty of God over all things, including the personal salvation of sinners.

We believe that the church, rightly understood, is a body of regenerate, baptized believers. Baptism is the immersion in water of individuals who have repented of sin and trusted in Christ alone for salvation. We are congregational in our polity, meaning that the final authority in our church rests with the congregation itself, under the authority of Christ. We are voluntarily affiliated with the Augusta Association of Baptist Churches, the Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. For further details about what we believe, please see our Confession of Faith under "Church Documents."

We believe that God created mankind in His image as male and female, granting each the same worth, value and dignity.

We also believe that we are created with gender-specific distinctions which allow men and women to reflect God’s nature in unique but complementary ways.

These distinctions are part of God’s good, created order, and not a consequence of sin. As it pertains to authority within the church, we conclude that the offices of pastor/elder and deacon are reserved for men.

There's more!

As a church, we commit to upholding a Church Covenant while agreeing to the theological principles set forth in our Confession of Faith.

To read these in detail, see "Church Documents."
