• Bert daniel

    LEAD PASTOR, ELDER

    Bert has served as Lead Pastor at Berea since 2002, and became pastor at Crawford Avenue through the merger process. He and his wife Nikki have two sons, Noah and Isaiah, and one daughter, Tatom. Bert has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia International University as well as both a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, working out, and watching Georgia Tech football. 


  • STEPHEN STORY

    EXECUTIVE PASTOR, ELDER

    Stephen joined Berea in 2004 and has served as Executive Pastor at Crawford since 2017. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Dottie, and they have been blessed with three children. Stephen has a bachelor's degree from Columbia International University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska, and is studying biblical counseling through The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He enjoys DIY projects around the house and is a fan of Braves baseball.

  • JOHN ROSS

    ASSISTANT PASTOR, ELDER

    John came on staff at Berea in 2011, and continued his role as assistant pastor at Crawford Avenue through the merger process. He and his wife Brooke have four daughters: Eva, Zoe, Scarlet and Pax. John has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He loves spending time with his family, reading, playing & listening to music, and geeking out about coffee. Check out his Scripture reading podcast, Commuter Bible.


  • Jessie Holmes

    DISCIPLESHIP PASTOR, ELDER

    Jessie joined Crawford Avenue in 2019 while serving as the campus minister for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Augusta University. He became a staff pastor in 2021. Jessie is originally from Savannah Georgia, with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. A superhero enthusiast, he also enjoys specialty coffee and strategy board games. 


  • GARY ATWELL

    ELDER

    Gary and his wife, Rachel, became members at Berea in January 2014 and joined CABC with the merger. They have three children, Carter, Haddon, and Merritt. Gary is originally from south Georgia, has a History degree from Valdosta State University and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Gary currently works as a Contractor at Fort Gordon and enjoys outdoor activities, sports, movies, and beekeeping.


  • MARK BROWN

    ELDER

    Mark and his wife Cheryl moved to North Augusta in 2013, joining Berea in 2014 and joining Crawford with the merger. They have one son, Joshua, who lives in Charlotte. Mark has a Masters degree in Accounting from Binghamton University in New York and is a CPA. Mark enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and began serving as an elder in 2018.

  • Don Pezzatta

    ELDER

    Don and his wife Vannessa have called Augusta and the CSRA home since 2011. They live in North Augusta and have two young adult children, Samuel and Victoria. Don began serving as an elder in 2014, has a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and currently works at Fort Gordon. He and his wife love hosting friends and family and firing up the pellet grill and BBQing!

  • Anthony prichard

    ELDER

    Anthony became a member of Berea Baptist Church in 2012 and joined CABC with the merger.  He and his wife, Kristen, got married in 2016.  He has a bachelor's degree in Communications from Augusta University and a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He works as a biblical counselor in the Augusta area and as a 4th grade teacher at Logos Classical Academy.  He loves spending time with his wife and enjoys Korean food, reading, board games, and being with family and friends.


  • BOBBY BROWN

    DEACON OF SECURITY

    Bobby and his wife, Julia, joined Berea in 2009 and joined CABC with the merger. They have a son, Justin, and a daughter, McKenzie. Bobby has been employed at Savannah River Site since 1989. He enjoys golfing and working out at the Y. He is also an avid Bulldog and Braves fan.



  • CHRIS HOMEYER

    DEACON OF SERVICES

    Chris and his wife, Julia, became members at Crawford in 2017. Although he is no longer practicing as an OBGYN, Chris maintains his board certification and is a proud member of American Association of Pro-life OBGYNs. Chris also loves gardening, kayaking, cycling, and talking with Julia.



  • Ross McDaniel

    DEACON OF OUTREACH

    Ross joined Berea with his wife, Brittany, in 2013 and are now members at Crawford through the merger process. They have a son, Max, a daughter, Sullivan, two cats, and a dog named Marley. Ross has a passion for community and urban development, and he and his wife love the Oklahoma City Thunder and anything basketball-related!


  • MICHAEL SPRINGSTEAD

    DEACON OF AUDIO/VISUAL

    Michael and his wife, Becca, joined Berea in 2015 just months before joining CABC with the merger. They have three children, Jennifer, Amelia, and Caleb. Michael works as a graphic designer and print output coordinator at Alphagraphics in Martinez. His interests are playing music and reading fantasy literature.



  • Cheryl Brown

    DIRECTOR OF WOMEN'S MINISTRY

    Cheryl and her husband, Mark, became members of Berea in 2014 and joined CABC with the merger. She is originally from upstate New York and has a Masters degree from University of South Carolina in Library & Information Science. Before joining the staff in 2022, Cheryl was previously a Youth Services Librarian, editor, and social media manager. She has served as the lay leader of Women's Ministry at Crawford since 2016 and enjoys hospitality, reading, and organizing. Cheryl and Mark have a son, Joshua, and a daughter-in-law Katlynne.


  • DOTTIE STORY

    CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

    Dottie and her husband, Stephen, were members at Berea from 2004 until moving away from the area in 2011. Dottie joined the staff of CABC in 2017 when she and her family moved back to Augusta. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia International University and a Masters degree from Augusta State University. She is a mom to three children and is passionate about adoption, the gospel, and running. 


  • MARY WONG

    LEAD ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

    Mary and her husband, David, are native New Yorkers and parents of three children. The military brought them to Augusta in 2018, and Mary joined the staff in early 2019. Mary has a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic institute and a Master of Arts from Manhattanville College. She enjoys making music, reading, and advocating for holistic health.


  • KATIE CARO

    COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

    Katie and her husband, Daniel, moved from Atlanta in the summer of 2021 in order to be a part of Crawford Avenue. They welcomed their first baby girl, Rilyn, in October of 2021. With the creation of this new role, Katie joined the staff of CABC in 2022. Katie has a Bachelor of Science in Computational Media from Georgia Tech. She enjoys hosting for family and friends, crafting, baking and playing board games.

  • James Cooper

    FACILITIES COORDINATOR

    James joined the staff of CABC in 2020. He has lived in the Augusta area his entire life and has worked in the industrial and home maintenance industries for almost 30 years. He enjoys just about any outdoor activity, whether it be fishing, camping, hiking or camping. James is married and is the proud father of six children.
